I get a lot of questions about inseam lengths.
Let me shed some light on the inseam problem for you.
First, we plan to keep our inseam lengths the same for the next production batch.
"Gasp! How dare she ? OMG but I am short ? WHY NOT ?"
Yes, I hear you out there!
Don't fret babe, we're solving the problem and really want you to understand how we're working on it! Please read on.
Why So Long ?
1) You can shorten well made pants. A tailor can shorten pants from the knee or the hem. We can help you search for a tailor. :)
2) Pants are extra long for a bent knee, riding position. So, have a seat on a chair or your bike when you try on your pants!
3) For apparel production we must meet minimum order requirements. So, in order to make a "short" or "long" we would actually need to make an entire new product batch. For example; we make 100 pairs of "regular" length Raven Pants to meet that requirement. Then we'd need to make 100 pairs of "short" and another 100 pairs of "long." We are growing and we love your support. Let's keep working together towards this goal.
4) Every human's body is unique. We won't ever hit 100% match for anyone, still if we get the critical measurements of the hip, crotch, and butt correct.
Then length is easy for a tailor to customize. By the numbers, 3 out of 100 women have asked for "short" length, and 1 out of 100 have asked for "long." So, I apologize for introducing numbers - because each of you is a person. Still, I hope you can see how we made our choices about inseam length.
5) We determined our inseam and "rise" measurements by gathering YOUR real life measurements. I've been collecting women's measurements for 10 years. So, take the next poll and contribute yours.
Why is Tailoring a Good Solution ?
So, if your pants are too long or just need a small adjustment to be perfect...
Finding a local, skilled tailor is the BEST solution.
That may seem scary, like a brush off, or expensive.
Let me assure you, it is a worthwhile and effective solution.
Tips For Tailor Sourcing:
Look for a clean, well lit shop. There are two basic set ups.
1) dry cleaner/alternations shop; look for the sewing machines to be in a well lit area, in good repair. Often they are in the window and you can see they are in good working condition! If they are dusty, disorganized, or you have a bad vibe seek elsewhere.
2) couture/custom alteration shop; you will be more likely to enter a reception area here. You may see finished projects bagged, ready for client pick up. The sewing equipment will be in a different room. Again, look for a clean, well lit room.
Every tailor gives you a consultation first. You put on the garment, and they assess. If you don't like the tailor, leave. If they can't do the work; leave. Too expensive ? Shop around.
